Summer reading update

You may have read that I was sick for a week. While it impacted my plans, I was mindful to practice self-care and not push through as I'd usually do. The downside is that it impacted Camp Mom. One benefit is that I had lots of time to listen to audiobooks! I've almost met my annual reading goal. Nothing like being stuck in bed to provide lots of time for books. Hopefully, you remain healthy and make time to read. SO, what are you reading? Are you enjoying it?

If you'd like to know how I ranked the books I've read, follow me on Good Reads. Here's a sneak preview of a few of my favorites: How the Word Is Passed: A Reckoning with the History of Slavery Across America by Clint Smith, The Authenticity Project by Clare Pooley, The Midnight Library by Matt Haig, American Like Me: Reflections on Life Between Cultures by America Ferrera, and The Lazy Genius Way: Embrace What Matters, Ditch What Doesn't, and Get Stuff Done by Kendra Adachi.

Each book quenched a different thirst. Clint Smith masterfully filled gaps in our History education. As a homeschooler, I was pleased that I taught my children many of the topics he covered. However, there were a few potholes that needed filling. Claire Pooley provided a light and engaging book that stirred a dormant desire. You'll see more on that this Fall. Stay tuned. Matt Haig made me miss Every Day by David Levithan. I also reflected on my decisions and how they impact those around me. A part of me wishes as humans, we all had to take an oath to do no harm to other humans. America Ferrera, et al. made me laugh, cringe, shake my head in disgust, and long to travel abroad. Finally, Kendra Adachi presented a few new tools to help my inner circle and me. While the concepts aren't earth-shattering, her fresh perspective reminded me of my younger self's goals and helped me make a few necessary changes.

SO, what are you reading?

What would you recommend?

What did you learn about yourself?

What did you unlearn?

How will you add to our world? Did you get BINGO yet?

I'd love to hear from you.
